Hey ladies!! How is everyone’s hump day going? Good I hope!
Today I got up early and headed out for an early babysitting job. This time, it was only 1 kiddo; a cutie little girl named Kate. She is 1 1/2 years old and a little ball of fun! :)
For some reason, my alarm clock went off later than I had planned (how this happened, I still haven’t figured out), so I needed something quick for breakfast. I resorted to a good ol’ bowl of cold cereal. Perfect for Summer!
The mixture included included:
- 1/2 cup kashi go lean
- 1/2 cup kashi vive
- handful of PB Puffins (yay!)
- fresh blueberries and strawberries
- unsweetened vanilla almond breeze
- dollop of greek yog.
I was home just in time for lunch, but we are completely fresh out of bread and tortillas (gasp!). So I decided to make a Hugh Jass salad.
The star of my salad was this:
I also threw in some chickpeas, broccoli, cucumber, carrots, hummus, and crumbled kashi crackers. After I snapped this pic, I sliced up some strawberries and put them in there too! A huge orange was also consumed.
So it seems like there is some sickness going around the blogworld…for the past couple of days I have been feeling downright lowsy! My nose has been so stuffed up that I had to go sleep in the living room recliner chair last night because I couldn’t breathe laying down in my bed. Ugh. And as the title of this post says, this has been causing me major race stress. My race is THIS Saturday. This couldn’t be a worse time to get sick and have no energy. This is really hard for me because I have been working so hard to increase my running endurance and I have finally started to feel ready for the race. And right now, running is the last think I want to do. I just feel like laying here on the couch and being lazy, because that is all I have the energy for. I’m not really sure what the best thing for me to do is.
Should I try to get in at least 1 more run before this Saturday or will I just make myself worse?
Sorry for the not so happy writing today, I’m just really stressing out about this because I have been looking forward to this race and want to be able to fully enjoy it.
Anyways, In an attempt to nourish myself back to health, I made a lovely juice this afternoon:
1 granny smith apple, 1/2 red bell pepper, 1 beet, 1 kale leave, and a few grapes (unpictured)
I also added a splash of Pom Juice. This was very refreshing and made me feel much better.
Well, now I think I will take advantage of my down-time and watch some lovely trash t.v. I believe Daisy of Love is on. :) To all of you who are feeling under the weather, I hope you feel much better ASAP! Bye girlies!

ReplyDeleteenjoy daisy of love my fellow trash tv lover ;)
Hey,
ReplyDeleteHope you get better soon. These summer illnesses are the worst.
Aww, girl, I hope you feel better. The rule of thumb is that if your whole body is achy, don't run and let your body rest. If it's just in your head (like a head cold, or just your nose is running but everything else feels fine), then it's OK to run.
ReplyDeleteOkay - I mustmustmust TELL YOU that I love Daisy of Love - trash tv at it's finest, totally agree. One of my faves haha!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling better than you were yesterday - and I'm glad you had a good time babysitting - kids always are able to put a smile on my face as well.
Your salad looks amazing, and that juice - I have to get a juicer asap - I have like beets in the fridge and honestly, cooking them is a pain in the butt sometimes when I just want one quickly.
Make sure you get plenty of rest and let your body relax for a few days before getting back into any major exercising...I know your race is coming up, which can be so nerve-wracking, but just remember that your body needs time to heal to perfom at it's optimum level.
Love you!
Meg
Hope you get to feeling better for the weekend, I would say listen to your body and get as much rest as you feel you need! :)
